Technical Support Specialist (Networking Pathway)
£27,000 + 10% Shift Cover Allowance + £2,000 Bonus + Paid Certifications
Hybrid | Tuesday office, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from home
Most first-line support roles promise progression.
This one actually delivers it.
The person you're replacing has just been promoted into the Network Engineering team after developing within the business. Before him, others have followed the same path.
If your ambition is to build a career in Networking, Infrastructure or Cloud, this is the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers whilst supporting enterprise customer environments.
What you'll be doing
You'll become the first point of contact for a wide range of managed service customers, troubleshooting technical issues across networking and Microsoft technologies before escalating more complex incidents to specialist engineers.
No two days are the same.
You'll be supporting real enterprise environments, working alongside experienced Network Engineers and developing the practical troubleshooting skills that simply can't be learnt from books alone.
Most of your time will be spent:
-
Troubleshooting network connectivity issues
-
Performing first-line technical investigations
-
Diagnosing faults across enterprise customer environments
-
Escalating incidents with clear technical documentation
-
Supporting Cisco, Fortinet and Microsoft technologies
-
Working closely with experienced 2nd Line and Network Engineers
-
Occasionally providing cover for the 24/7 support team during planned annual leave
The cover element is planned well in advance wherever possible and attracts a permanent 10% salary uplift regardless of how often it's required.
Who we're looking for
We're far more interested in attitude than a long list of certifications.
You'll probably recognise yourself if you:
-
Love technology outside of work
-
Have built your own PC or home lab
-
Enjoy figuring out how things work
-
Naturally troubleshoot problems rather than giving up
-
Have a genuine interest in networking
-
Want a long-term career rather than just another helpdesk job
Experience in an MSP, NOC, Data Centre or technical support environment would be advantageous.
If you've already started studying towards your CCNA or Network+, even better.
Career Development
This isn't somewhere you'll stand still.
You'll receive structured development through industry-leading certifications including:
-
Fortinet
-
ScienceLogic
-
Cisco
-
Meraki
-
Microsoft Azure
-
CCNA
-
Cisco U Learning Platform
-
INE Technical Training Library
Once you've completed your initial development pathway, you'll have opportunities to specialise in Networking, Microsoft, Unified Communications or even leadership.
What you'll receive
-
£27,000 basic salary
-
Permanent 10% shift cover allowance
-
£2,000 annual bonus
-
Paid industry certifications
-
Access to Cisco U and INE learning platforms
-
Hybrid working
-
Genuine internal progression
-
Exposure to enterprise networking technologies
-
Supportive team environment
Why this role?
Because this isn't a password-reset helpdesk.
It's an opportunity to build a genuine technical career with a business that consistently develops engineers from first-line support into specialist networking roles.
If you're naturally curious, enjoy solving technical problems and want to become an exceptional Infrastructure or Network Engineer, we'd love to hear from you.
