About the Role

Overview

A leading UK Managed Service Provider is seeking a Network Team Leader to oversee a high-performing Second Line Network Engineering team within their Service Centre. This is a hands-on technical leadership role ideal for a Senior Network Engineer or Technical Lead who enjoys solving complex networking challenges while mentoring and developing engineers.

The organisation has experienced significant growth in recent years and prides itself on delivering world-class service, continuous learning, and a supportive team culture where people genuinely progress.

The Role

As the Network Team Leader, you will:

  • Act as the escalation point for complex networking incidents and problems.

  • Support, coach, and mentor your team—running 1:1s, development reviews, and team meetings.

  • Ensure incidents and service requests are handled efficiently and within SLA.

  • Lead on Problem Management, ensuring recurring issues are identified and resolved at root cause.

  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, service transition, vendors, and 3rd-party partners.

  • Drive continuous service improvement across people, process, and tooling.

  • Promote best-in-class operational practices and technical excellence.

This role combines leadership and hands-on networking expertise—perfect if you enjoy both guiding others and staying close to the tech.

Technical Experience

  • Strong background supporting enterprise network infrastructure in a managed services environment.

  • CCNP (minimum), or equivalent experience.

  • Deep knowledge of Cisco networking (Catalyst/Nexus, L2/L3 switching, OSPF/EIGRP/BGP, VLANs, NAT).

  • Experience working with Meraki wireless.

  • Exposure to Fortinet and/or Palo Alto firewalls (highly desirable).

  • Understanding of Azure networking (advantageous).

  • Knowledge of scripting or automation beneficial (but not essential).

Leadership & Personal Attributes

  • Able to guide, mentor, and inspire network engineers.

  • Strong communicator—capable of translating complex technical issues clearly.

  • Calm under pressure, organised, and solution-focused.

  • Passionate about continuous improvement and technical excellence.

What’s in It for You

  • Work within a growing, modern MSP with genuine career progression pathways.

  • Supportive leadership culture focused on development and wellbeing.

  • Opportunity to influence operational standards across a key function.

  • Chance to shape and grow a high-performing technical team.
