About the Role

  • JOB TITLE: IT Service Desk Technician
  • LOCATION: Denham / Uxbridge area (West London / Buckinghamshire border)
  • SECTOR: Private Defence / Engineering Manufacturing
  • WORK PATTERN: Onsite 8.15am - 4.45pm Monday to Friday (35 hours, 4.5 days per week / Every Friday is a half day! )
  • SALARY: £35,000 - £45,000 + Excellent Benefits 

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are recruiting an IT Service Desk Technician to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing organisation operating within the private defence sector. This is an in-house role supporting internal users in a secure, structured, and professionally run IT environment.

You will act as the primary point of contact for IT support, ensuring reliable service delivery across systems, devices, and applications while contributing to operational stability and continuous improvement.

This role is ideal for someone seeking long-term career growth, technical stability, and a structured environment rather than a fast-paced MSP setting.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the first point of contact for all IT incidents and service requests

  • Log, manage, and resolve tickets in line with SLAs via service management platform

  • Provide hands-on and remote troubleshooting across hardware, software, and user issues

  • Escalate incidents appropriately to ensure service levels are maintained

  • Maintain and update the IT asset register

  • Support software deployment, patching, and licensing compliance

  • Manage mobile devices via Intune / MDM

  • Support Starters, Movers and Leavers lifecycle

  • Contribute to documentation and knowledge base

  • Assist with IT projects and system improvements

  • Provide occasional out-of-hours support for upgrades and site activities


TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT

  • Windows 11and Microsoft Server environments

  • Microsoft 365 and Office 365

  • Active Directory and endpoint configuration

  • IT Security best practices

  • Service Management tooling such as ServiceNow or similar


CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Experience in a customer-facing IT Support or Service Desk role

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability

  • Good Microsoft stack knowledge including Windows and Microsoft 365

  • Structured, methodical, and security-aware mindset

  • Strong communication skills across business functions

  • Hands-on, proactive, and willing to learn

Desirable

  • ITIL Foundation

  • Microsoft certifications such as MCP or similar
