🏢 Enterprise / Colocation Environment
The Opportunity
We are working with a growing infrastructure provider in Leeds looking to appoint a hands-on Data Centre Engineer to support mission-critical environments.
This is not a desktop support role. This is physical infrastructure, uptime, resilience, and live environments where precision matters.
If you understand rack builds, structured cabling, hardware swaps under SLA, and what "five nines" actually means, this will feel like home.
The Environment
You will be working inside a live, enterprise-grade data centre supporting:
• High-density server environments
• Network core & edge hardware
• Colocation client estates
• Critical power & cooling systems (exposure beneficial)
• Remote hands support
Key Responsibilities
• Rack & stack of servers, storage and networking equipment
• Structured cabling (copper & fibre)
• Hardware installs, swaps and break/fix
• Patching, cross-connects and audits
• Remote hands support for enterprise customers
• Monitoring and first-line response to alerts
• Documentation and change control adherence
• Supporting maintenance windows and live change activity
Experience Required
• Experience in a data centre, colocation or critical environment
• Strong hardware knowledge (Dell, HPE, Cisco etc.)
• Understanding of structured cabling standards
• Familiarity with ticketing systems & SLAs
• Comfortable working shift patterns
• Calm under pressure in live environments
Desirable:
• Exposure to UPS / generators / power systems
• DCIM tools
• ITIL awareness
• Network fundamentals (VLANs, patching, basic config awareness)
What Makes This Role Different
This is a genuine engineering position with exposure to:
• Enterprise-scale infrastructure
• Large client estates
• Structured career progression
• Technical training & certification support
You will not be stuck in repetitive low-value tasks. There is scope to develop toward:
• Senior Data Centre Engineer
• Network Infrastructure Engineer
• Site Operations Lead
Package
• £45,000 – £55,000 basic
• Shift allowance
• Overtime available
• Pension
• Training & development
• 25 days holiday + bank holidays
If you're currently in an MSP, colocation facility, or critical infrastructure environment and want to work somewhere that values technical precision and uptime discipline, this is worth a conversation.
