About the Role
2nd Line Support Engineer – Reading (Hybrid)
£35,000 – £40,000 + Progression + Certifications
We’re working with a growing IT services provider in the Reading area looking to add a 2nd Line Support Engineer to their technical support team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting across Microsoft environments and wants a clear pathway into infrastructure, cloud, or specialist support.
You’ll be joining a collaborative technical team supporting a varied client base, with exposure to modern Microsoft technologies and structured development opportunities.
What you’ll be doing
• Providing 2nd line technical support across desktop, server, and cloud environments
• Troubleshooting Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Windows Server issues
• Supporting networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls)
• Escalating complex issues to 3rd line where required
• Contributing to documentation and service improvements
• Supporting project delivery when needed
Tech environment includes
• Microsoft 365
• Azure / Azure AD
• Windows Server
• Active Directory / Group Policy
• Intune / Endpoint Manager
• Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs)
What we’re looking for
• Previous experience in a 2nd Line Support role (ideally MSP or multi-client environment)
• Strong troubleshooting mindset and customer communication skills
• Exposure to Microsoft cloud technologies
• Interest in progressing toward infrastructure, cloud, or security pathways
• Certifications such as AZ-900, MS-900, or CCNA (or working toward them) beneficial
